Eagles Check Out DE/OLB Trevor Scott

The draft is over, but the Eagles will continue to look for ways to tweak their roster between now and September.

Yesterday, they had veteran defensive end/outside linebacker Trevor Scott in for a visit, according to Adam Caplan. Scott (6-5, 256) spent last season with the Patriots, playing 29.6 percent of their snaps (playoffs included), according to Pro Football Focus. He had 14 tackles and three sacks and was a “key special teams contributor” per ESPN Boston.

Scott was originally a sixth-round pick out of Buffalo in 2008. He spent his first four seasons with the Oakland Raiders, combining for 12 sacks in 2008 and 2009. In 2010, he suffered a season-ending torn ACL. He also dealt with a hamstring injury last year.

In terms of skill set, Scott’s strength appears to be as a pass-rusher. He only dropped back into coverage 10 times last year, per PFF. Although in 2009 (88 times) and 2010 (46 times), he did so more. Scott would be another option to play outside linebacker in three-man fronts and defensive end in four-man fronts.

He is 28-years-old.
