Victor Butler To Sign With New Orleans
When Victor Butler left Philadelphia after his visit earlier this week, the indication was that the outside linebacker could potentially still join the Eagles.
But that door is now shut. The Saints announced today that they’ve agreed to terms with the outside linebacker. It’s a two-year deal, but financial details have not yet been released.
Butler (6-2, 245) would have given the Eagles another outside linebacker with 3-4 experience. And at 25, his best years are likely still ahead of him.
The Eagles already signed Connor Barwin earlier in free agency. Trent Cole and Brandon Graham are also expected to make the move to outside linebacker. And the Eagles could use a draft pick on the position in April’s draft. One name that’s been mentioned quite a bit in this space is Oregon’s Dion Jordan. T-Mac wrote about Jordan in today’s Wake-Up Call.
And there’s also Vinny Curry. Tim offered some thoughts on where he fits in today’s mailbag.
The Eagles are likely done making big moves in free agency, but they could still keep an eye on certain areas: specifically linebacker, defensive line and offensive line.
Les Bowen of the Daily News mentioned this morning that the Birds recently checked back in on offensive tackle Eric Winston, who remains without a team.
And finally, defensive tackle Vaughn Martin has signed with the Dolphins. The Eagles had been rumored to be interested in him.
