Source: Andy Reid Out As Head Coach Of the Eagles

Andy Reid is scheduled to meet with Jeffrey Lurie Monday morning. A press conference is tentatively set for noon, according to a team source, to announce that Reid is no longer the head coach of the Eagles.

“Oh, I don’t know,” said Reid, when asked if he believed he had just coached his last game for the Eagles. “I’ll meet with Jeffrey and we’ll talk it over.

“I love the Philadelphia Eagles. That’s how I feel. I loved every minute I had a chance to coach them.”

Reid’s tenure ended in unspectacular fashion, as his team fell to the Giants 42-7 to finish the season 4-12 — his worst mark in his 14 seasons at the controls.

“By record’s it’s obviously the toughest [year of my career],” said Reid. “We weren’t very good. Coaching, that’s my responsibility. And playing, which is my responsibility. I take complete blame for the year. That’s what I get paid to do, and we weren’t good enough.”

One staff member had tears in his eyes in the locker room afterwards as the reality of the situation became more apparent.

Reid’s top assistant, Marty Mornhinweg, sounded like a man who recognized that this was the end of the road.

“We had quite a run,” said Mornhinweg. “The only thing I regret is not winning that thing [Super Bowl] in Jacksonville. And that game in Arizona — aah — we should have had that doggone thing. There were a handful of games like that. But otherwise proud of the men that have played here.”

The players said that Reid did not address his fate before or after the game. He only told them, “Better days ahead” and to “keep fighting,” according to Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.

Reid, as was his way during his time in Philadelphia, remained stoic in what will prove to be his final postgame press conference as head coach of the Eagles.

“I’m not that sentimental,” said Reid. “I can tell you I love Philadelphia. I love the fans.”
