Reid: No Discussions With Lurie This Week

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy ReidAndy Reid was asked Friday — following what could be his last practice as head coach of the Eagles — if Jeffrey Lurie has talked to him this week about what his intentions are with the coaching situation.

“No. No, we haven’t talked,” Reid replied.

As much as Reid and the players are trying to keep the conversation on the Giants, it inevitably floats to what happens when time runs off the clock Sunday. Even if it’s not with the Eagles, does Reid definitely intend to coach next year?

“I don’t know what I’d do without the media,” said Reid, fitting a joke into the uncomfortable gathering inside the practice bubble. “That’s what I want to do…I do want to coach, yeah.”

And with that, the session ended. The team has a mock game Saturday and then onto the finale against the Giants at MetLife Stadium Sunday at 1. From there, it’s a wait to see what message Lurie will deliver.

“This is Jeffrey’s team,” said Brent Celek. “It’s his choice and we all respect that. Whatever he decides we go with it and you’re happy with it. That’s up to him. Personally, could I see [Reid coming back]? Yeah, but that’s me.”

Has Reid addressed his future at all amid all the speculation?

Celek said he did speak with his coach about it a few weeks ago.

“He just said don’t worry about him. He’s going to be OK, just worry about football,” said Celek.

“I think he’ll keep coaching,” he added. “Hopefully it’s here, but you never know.”

In other Eagles news:

Fletcher Cox and Mychal Kendricks are both out with concussions. Tight end Evan Moore is doubtful for Sunday and Chris Polk is questionable. Jeremy Maclin sat out Thursday with a knee injury but returned Friday and is probable.

— Reid was asked if Michael Vick deserves a chance to return to the Eagles next year and compete for a starting job.

“I’m not even at that point right now,” said Reid. “We’ll cover all that once we get back.”

Reid said that Vick has been “spinning it pretty good” at practice and managing the offense well.
