Updated: Brady Will Not Play Against Eagles
UPDATED: According to the Boston Herald, Tom Brady will not play Monday night against the Eagles.
He is not alone. Jerod Mayo, Wes Welker, Rob Gronkowski and Brandon Lloyd also will not suit up, per the NFL Network.
According to Mike Rodak of ESPN Boston, Brady, Lloyd and Gronkowski worked off to the side at practice Friday while the rest of the team was prepping for the game. Meanwhile, Welker left early Friday (apparently non-injury related).
This puts a bit of a damper on the prime time festivities. Several of the Eagles newcomers, like Mychal Kendricks and Brandon Boykin, were looking forward to the challenge of going up against the best the league had to offer.
Because of the funky preseason schedule the Eagles were handed, Andy Reid plans on playing his starters for at least a half as if this was the team’s third preseason tilt. It will be more difficult to judge their effectiveness now that they’re facing off against reserves primarily.
