About Design Home 2017
2017 marks the 15th Anniversary of Philadelphia magazine’s Design Home.
Over the years, each Design Home has been a unique example of the latest market trends. Our readers and visitors alike have been awed by their remarkable, state-of-the-art features. In keeping with tradition, Philadelphia magazine’s Design Home® 2017 will not disappoint.
The process of building and designing the home will be chronicled through several special advertising sections in Philadelphia magazine and through this website. Design Home 2017 will open its doors to the public for 3 weeks of house tours this April– with all ticket proceeds benefiting MANNA. At that time, we invite you to tour this exceptional home for today’s traditional family. Experience the rich architectural heritage of Wynnewood blended with modern touches for a fresh new look.
The Beneficiary
MANNA
MANNA is the only organization of its kind in the Philadelphia area that prepares and delivers nourishing, medically appropriate meals to neighbors battling life-threatening illnesses such as cancer, HIV/AIDS, diabetes, and kidney disease. MANNA provides hope and nourishment through its delivery of 3 meals a day, 7 days a week to thousands in the Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey area, all free of charge.
MANNA’s mission is made possible because of the 4,800 volunteers who give of their time each year. These caring neighbors are the true heart of MANNA. Each day they chop, cook, and deliver meals – enabling MANNA’s service to remain free to its clients. A recently completed study by the OMG Center for Collaborative Learning demonstrated the health benefits of MANNA’s medically tailored meals, something MANNA refers to as the power of Food as Medicine. MANNA provides healing support for both the body and soul as shown by its clients routinely reporting increased energy, improved weight, better tolerance of medication, and less stress over preparing meals.
MANNA’s delivery of delicious, medically appropriate meals, along with nutritional counseling, empower individuals to battle illness and improve their quality of life.

Interior Designer
Winslow Interiors
“Great design is about a great team,” says Polly Carlton of Winslow Interiors. Polly attributes her knowledge base to the 15 years she collaborated on residential and commercial design projects at Carlton Thompson Associates, before leaving to open her own company in 2011. Twenty-one years in the design industry has given Winslow Interiors the opportunity to develop relationships with only the most skilled craftsmen. That team combined with the use of color, natural as well as man-made materials and light, has culminated in projects that have been described by clients as “magical.” The 2017 Design Home is Winslow Interiors sixth project with Weiss & Associates. Winslow Interiors serves the Philadelphia area and Jersey shore.

Architect
McIntyre Capron Architects
For over 25 years, McIntyre Capron Architects have been designing and renovating homes which appeal to both classic and modern sensibilities. Located on Philadelphia’s Main Line and in Center City, our projects range from smaller renovations and additions to larger new homes and estates. We design projects that are simultaneously traditional on the outside – oftentimes borrowing from the classic vocabulary of the Philadelphia suburbs – with features, floor plans and amenities that respond to the needs of today’s homebuyers.
Beyond our commitment to beautiful, innovative and practical design, the firm prides itself most on our service to our clients. At all times, we strive to provide them with leading edge design, drawings, supervision and responsive communication in all phases of our work with them. McIntyre Capron is proud to call some of the region’s best builders our partners and friends.
Our firm’s leadership team has a combined fifty plus years of experience. Traveling the path to ‘older but wiser’ has taught us many things. Besides a deep knowledge of design and construction, we’ve learned that our most important skill is our ability to translate our clients’ dreams into built realities.
