Jim Gardner Tweets That He’s Back in the Hospital
Just a week after returning from a monthlong leave for bicep surgery, Jim Gardner is back in the hospital.
The longtime Action News anchor revealed on Twitter this morning that he was suffering from severe prostate and urinary tract infections.
Gardner began his career at WPVI on July 1st, 1976. He has anchored the 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts since 1977. (That’s a long time! For example, he reported on both Villanova national championships.) He is a member of the Broadcast Pioneers Hall of Fame.
Looking forward to getting back to work on Tuesday. Not sure I'll remember how to do it! Just don't say break a leg. pic.twitter.com/9rzKNe85Qo

He went on leave last month for bicep tendon surgery, and later tweeted a photo of himself with a heavily-braced arm. He was profiled by Rich Rys in the May 2006 edition of Philadelphia magazine.
