Teen Driver Charged in Death of Bensalem Girl

Police say Michael Shelly, 18, drove past a school bus that had its flashers on and its stop sign extended.

Police have filed charges against the driver of an SUV that hit a Bensalem High School girl and killed her. The victim, Minete Zeka, was just 16.

Authorities charged 18-year-old Michael Shelly with homicide by vehicle, involuntary manslaughter, overtaking a school bus and related offenses. His arraignment was scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, the Bensalem PD said in a Facebook post.

Cops say Zeta was hit as she crossed Bensalem Blvd. to get to the school bus. The bus was stopped and had its flashers on and stop sign out, warning drivers not to pass it.

Shelly was driving a 1984 Ford Bronco II when he hit Zeta on December 17th.
