Councilwoman Introduces Philadelphia Bike Share Legislation

Philadelphia is one step closer to a bike share program.

Philadelphia City Councilwoman Blondell Reynolds Brown announced today she was introducing legislation authorizing the city’s bike share program planned to roll out next year.

“Bike sharing will bring Philadelphia to the next level of bike friendliness, sustainability, and put us on par with tourism and hospitality destination cities across the world,” said Councilwoman Reynolds Brown  in a press release. The release also noted Walk Score ranks Philadelphia the country’s fourth-most bike-able city.

Philadelphia’s as-yet-unnamed bike share program — run by three private entities — is planned to start in spring of next year.
