Here’s How You Can Build a Company in Just Three Days
Ever wonder what it’s like to build a company in just three days?
Startup Weekend is back in Philadelphia next month from November 11th through 13th, and attendees will be able to do just that — build a real company in only 54 hours.
Challenge accepted.
On day one, participants will network with one another, choose a project, pitch their ideas and team up to start developing a product or service.
Local industry leaders will coach the teams on day two, and on day three, teams will present their results before a panel of judges that will select the weekend’s winners.
“The event really enriches the creative and entrepreneurial community,” said Nicholas Gunther, a local organizer, “especially because a lot of people who don’t have much experience show up. They’re looking to learn a new skill.”
And most teams tend to continue with their projects past the weekend, Gunther said.
This will be Philadelphia’s sixth Startup Weekend since it was first organized in the city in 2011.
Internationally, the weekend, run by acclaimed accelerator program Techstars, has taken place in more than 150 countries and formed more than 23,000 teams. Startups like the taxi app Easy Taxi, pet-sitting site Rover and the beard-care-product company Beardbrand have come out of the weekend.
