No Philly Companies Named Most Attractive Employers for Millennials
After 240,000 students at 1,753 universities ranked the most attractive companies, Philadelphia businesses were left out in the cold. In fact, both business and engineering students ranked their top 50 most desired employers, but failed to mention any Philly-based companies. Not Comcast. Not AmerisourceBergen. Not Aramark.
The Universum study was conducted to see which companies have a competitive recruiting edge because of employer reputation and branding. It shouldn’t surprise anyone that Google landed on top of both lists. Apple and Microsoft also ranked high.

“Millennials want to truly understand a company’s purpose, align with it and work with others to propel the organization’s performance,” Universum said in a statement. “And they want to be inspired, not overwhelmed, by employer messages. Storytelling is critical: Millennials want to learn about employees who embody the organization’s values and communicate authentic stories about their working life.”
But not everyone agrees. Fortune recently ranked Power Home Remodeling Group (an exterior home remodeling company based in Chester, Pa.) as the No. 1 workplace for millennials.
