Eagles-Bears Open Thread
The Eagles visit the Bears for Monday Night Football at 8:30 as they search for their second win in as many weeks. We’ll periodically update this thread throughout the game with highlights and drive summaries. Feel free to jump in the comments below.
11:33 – It’s a final from Soldier Field. The Eagles improve to 2-0 with a 29-14 win over the Chicago Bears.
11:17 – Eddie Royal returns a Donnie Jones punt 65 yards to the house. Eagles still lead, 29-14, with 5:09 left in the game.
11:10 – Eagles force a turnover on downs against the Bears. Jenkins looked to have picked off Brian Hoyer in the endzone, but he lets it go out of bounds. Also, Trey Burton is questionable to return.

11:01 – On the second try, the Eagles fake a jet sweep and Mathews runs it in from one yard out. Sturgis makes the extra point, and the Eagles lead the Bears, 29-7, with 10:36 left in the game.
10:57 – Pederson decides to go for it on fourth down but it’s short. Bears called for offsides, and Eddie Goldman is down for Chicago and is carted off the field. Jay Cutler will also not return to the game.

10:48 – Vinny Curry forces Jeremy Langford to fumble, and Ron Brooks recovers the football.
10:44 – End of the third quarter. The Eagles take control of the game, as they lead the Bears, 22-7. Brian Hoyer replaces Cutler at quarterback for Chicago.
10:42 – Trey Burton scores from two yards out on the next play. But Sturgis misses the extra point. Eagles lead the Bears, 22-7, with 32 seconds left. Jay Cutler is going into the locker room.
10:39 – Caleb Sturgis might have injured himself on the last extra point. Meanwhile, Nigel Bradham intercepts Jay Cutler and takes it to the two yard line.
10:35 – Ryan Mathews scores a huge touchdown from three yards out. Sturgis hits the extra point and the Eagles lead the Bears, 16-7, with 53 seconds left in the third quarter. Mathews has a rushing touchdown in three of his last four games.

10:30 – Wendell Smallwood is getting plenty of touches during this drive.
10:13 – Destiny Vaeao forces Jay Cutler to fumble and the Eagles recover. Great play by the undrafted rookie free agent.

10:03 – Second half underway, Bryce Callahan injured for the Bears on the opening kickoff. Another big loss for the Bears defense if he has to miss time. He’s heading to the locker room for a possible head injury.
10:02 – Big loss for the Bears: Lamarr Houston is done for the night with a knee injury.

Darren Sproles: Five carries for 13 yards.
Ryan Mathews: Two carries for five yards.
Jordan Matthews: Four receptions for 42 yards.
Trey Burton: Three receptions for 36 yards.
Nelson Agholor: Three receptions for 34 yards.
Mychal Kendricks and Jalen Mills lead all Eagles with four tackles. Malcolm Jenkins and Brandon Graham have a sack each.
9:49 – Halftime in Chicago. The Eagles lead Chicago, 9-7.
9:48 – Sturgis misses a 53-yard field goal, but John Fox ices him. He makes the second one and gives the Eagles a 9-7 lead with seconds remaining in the half.
9:33 – Caleb Sturgis hits a 29-yard field goal. Eagles trail the Bears, 7-6, with 2:27 left in the second quarter.
9:27 – Lamarr Houston appears to be hurt for the Bears. He walked off the field on his own power.
9:16 – Two straight penalties on Jason Kelce force a three-and-out for the Eagles.

9:07 – Jeremy Langford runs it in from one yard out and gives the Bears a 7-3 lead with 11:16 left to play in the first half.
9:05 – Cutler completes a deep ball to Alshon Jeffery. Jalen Mills got beat on that coverage.
9:00 – We’re done with the first quarter. Eagles lead the Bears, 3-0.
8:54 – Bears kicker Connor Barth hits the upright on a 31-yard field goal try. Eagles take over.
8:43 – Sturgis nails a 25-yard field goal try with 6:11 left in the opening quarter. The Eagles lead, 3-0.
8:38 – Eagles have gone no huddle and an empty backfield for the majority of this drive. Currently in the red zone after converting on an early fourth down.
8:31 – Caleb Sturgis kicks the ball off and we are underway from Soldier Field.
8:30 – Jenkins, along with Jason Kelce and Chris Maragos, are tonight’s captains. Eagles won the toss and defer to the second half.
8:27- Jenkins, along with Steven Means and Ron Brooks, raised their fists during the national anthem. Marcus Smith also raised his fist, but was not shown on camera.
