Eagles vs. Browns 2016: Game Time, TV Schedule, Online Streaming, Channel, Odds and More
Philadelphia Eagles football is officially back. The Birds play the first game of their 2016 NFL schedule tomorrow on Sunday, Sept. 10. The Eagles open their season against the Cleveland Browns.
This week’s game is highly anticipated not only because it’s the first game of the season, but also because it marks Carson Wentz’s first career NFL start. The No. 2 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft was scheduled to be inactive on game day to start out. That changed, of course, when Philadelphia surprisingly traded projected starting quarterback Sam Bradford to the Vikings in exchange for a 2017 first round pick (and 2018 conditional pick). It will be interesting to see how Wentz fares. The 23-year-old passer is clearly talented. Can he limit his rookies mistakes?
Wentz obviously isn’t the only new aspect to the 2016 Eagles. Doug Pederson will be on the sidelines in his first regular season game as a head coach. It’s up to him to get the most out of Wentz and an Eagles offense that has major question marks at the skill positions. Defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz has high expectations to live up to. Philadelphia’s defense looked really good in the preseason by coming up with 10 turnovers. August games are meaningless, though, and Schwartz will be the first to admit that.
It’s no secret that the Browns are historically bad but there’s a new era in Cleveland. Head coach Hue Jackson is trying to revitalize the career of former No. 2 overall pick Robert Griffin III. The Browns aren’t loaded with talent so they’re eminently beatable, but there are no such thing as free wins in the NFL.
Here’s everything you need to know about how to watch the game.
