UPDATE NO. 2: The Giants reportedly hired Ben McAdoo to be their next head coach, seemingly before the Eagles could.

UPDATE: Tim gives a time frame and prediction for the announcement of the Eagles’ next head coach.

Jeff McLane of the Inquirer tweeted a few quotes of note Wednesday from Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator and head coaching candidate Doug Pederson.

Pederson’s comment that the team has “stopped all of [its] interviews” aligns with an earlier Jason La Canfora report that the Eagles didn’t have any more interviews planned at this time. There was uncertainty surrounding whether that was simply because of the timing of the NFL owners meetings, or if the Eagles had truly conducted all the interviews they wanted to conduct.

According to La Canfora, things could heat up for the Eagles sooner rather than later.

So far, the Eagles have interviewed Pederson, Duce Staley, Pat Shurmur, Ben McAdoo, and Tom Coughlin for the job. They had also interviewed Adam Gase, but he was hired by the Dolphins as their new head coach. Pederson has yet to be interviewed by any other teams.

There are five teams left without head coaches: the Eagles, 49ers, Buccaneers, Giants, and Titans.

Eagles inquired late about Hue Jackson

According to Sports Illustrated’s Mike Silver, the Eagles inquired late in the Hue Jackson window about interviewing the newest Cleveland Browns head coach for their head coaching position.

Jackson and the Browns agreed to a deal on Wednesday.

Chip Kelly still alive for 49ers’ coaching vacancy

According to John Middlekauf, Chip Kelly might still have a chance at landing the 49ers’ head coaching job.

The former Eagles head coach already interviewed with San Francisco for the job last week.
