Eagles Draft Thread: Day 1
The NFL draft officially begins Thursday night at 8 p.m. with Round 1.
We’ll provide as many updates as we can here, and you all can obviously converse in the comments section below.
If you need a primer, here’s a cheat sheet with an Eagles slant to the top 50 prospects.
11:45: Here’s what Kelly said about Mariota.
10:19: The Eagles have selected USC WR Nelson Agholor. He compares to Jeremy Maclin. We did a full breakdown with No-22 here.
9:37: Two more picks until the Eagles are up. Some options: UConn CB Byron Jones, Oregon OL Jake Fisher, Kentucky OLB Bud Dupree, UCF WR Breshad Perriman, Pittsburgh OL T.J. Clemmings and USC WR Nelson Agholor.
I think the favorites, if they remain on the board, are Jones and Fisher. I was not expecting Dupree to still be available though.
8:46: Just in case you were still holding out hope:
Webster of Mariota: “We’re not trading him.” #Titans

8:39: Rounding out the top five are Florida OLB Dante Fowler, Alabama WR Amari Cooper and Iowa OL Brandon Scherff.
8:22: What the Eagles offered the box:
Mr @JayGlazer says Eagles offered Bucs two 1st rounders , a QB, and another player. Bucs said no. @NFLonFOX

8:16: Looks like the dream is over. The Eagles tried, but the Titans didn’t want to play ball, apparently. Hard to imagine that Chip Kelly could have offered anything else.
#Titans taking Marcus Mariota

8:12: The Bucs take Jameis Winston. Here we go.
7:59: This is similar to the deal T-Mac threw out there earlier.
What package are #Eagles talking about to go to No. 1 or No. 2? Two 1st rounders, a 3rd rounder, Fletcher Cox, Boykin, Kendricks, more. Wow. — Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) April 30, 2015
7:46: Buckle up.
Everything I’ve heard is that Philly’s offer to Tennessee is very substantial. Still seems like the sweet spot to me — Jason La Canfora (@JasonLaCanfora) April 30, 2015
7:30: Are the Bears in the mix?
About an hour before #Titans go on clock, #Eagles and #Bears are two teams pushing hardest for No. 2 in a trade. — Paul Kuharsky (@PaulKuharskyNFL) April 30, 2015
ESPN’s @BobHoltzmanESPN reports Bears have spoken with Titans about No. 2 overall pick, but Tenn not interested in Jay Cutler. — Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) April 30, 2015
7:25: My sense is that there’s no motivation for the Titans to give in or for the Eagles to sweeten their deal right now. My gut? When a deadline approaches, one side will blink. But we’ll find out shortly.
