Making Sense Of the Eagles Inactives
The following Eagles are inactive for today’s game against Washington: QB Nick Foles, S Jerome Couplin, OLB Trent Cole, C Julian Vandervelde, OL Dennis Kelly, WR Jeff Maehl and DL Taylor Hart.
The only difference from last week is that Cole is out with a hand injury. He had surgery earlier this week. Taking Cole’s place will be Brandon Graham. If the Eagles go with a rotation, Marcus Smith II or Bryan Braman could get into the mix. But expect Graham and Connor Barwin to play most of the snaps.
DB Jaylen Watkins was inactive last week, but he’ll dress today.
The following Eagles were listed on the injury report: LB Emmanuel Acho (groin), DT Beau Allen (shoulder), DE Brandon Bair (knee), TE Brent Celek (neck), DT Bennie Logan (pectoral), S Chris Maragos (hamstring), WR Jordan Matthews (knee), K Cody Parkey (right groin), RB Chris Polk (ankle). All are active and ready to go.
The Eagles will start the same offensive line combination for the fifth straight week. From left to right: Jason Peters, Evan Mathis, Jason Kelce, Andrew Gardner and Lane Johnson.
Mark Sanchez will start at QB for the seventh straight game, and Matt Barkley will back him up. Brad Smith is the emergency option.
The Eagles have five wide receivers active: Jeremy Maclin, Riley Cooper, Matthews, Smith and Josh Huff. Four tight ends – Celek, Zach Ertz, James Casey and Trey Burton – will dress.
Washington will be without a couple of key defensive pieces – ILB Keenan Robinson and DL Jason Hatcher. Left tackle Trent Williams, who left last week’s game with a shoulder injury, is active.
