DeSean Jackson Open Thread
We’ll use this space to tie up some odds and ends with DeSean Jackson.
Check back for noteworthy Tweets, links, etc. Here is our main story on Jackson being released. And here is Jackson’s official statement.
2:57 – ESPN’s Adam Schefter says there is interest in Jackson already:
And now up to 6 teams already calling on DeSean Jackson. And counting.

3:04 – Could there be a potential reunion with Andy Reid?
SOURCE: The #Chiefs have reached out to Desean Jackson’s representatives. More details on 610 Sports Radio at 2:00. @610SportsKC

3:05 – Ron Rivera of the Panthers tells USA Today his squad would be interested:
“We’d be interested. He’s an intriguing player and we’ll take a look at him,” Rivera told USA TODAY Sports from the West Coast. “I just got word and this is surprising to hear. He’s an explosive player who has great vertical speed and is strong going to the ball.”
3:07 – Eagles center Jason Kelce wished Jackson luck on Twitter, but…
We just made an extremely unpopular decision, but I couldn’t be more excited and happy with where this organization is going!! #FlyEaglesFly
— Jason Kelce (@Jkelce) March 28, 2014
3:24 – A Panthers source tells PFT that the Panthers have no interest in Jackson.
6:37 – Another report linking Reid to Jackson:
The #Chiefs, #Jets and #Raiders are all pursuing former #Eagles WR DeSean Jackson, per a league source.

6:38 – I thought this was interesting too:
IMO, don’t see a team signing @DeseanJackson10 before next week. Interested teams will do background homework and make calls to PHI/KC.
— Phil Savage (@SeniorBowlPhil) March 28, 2014
Keep in mind that we’ll find out soon enough what teams think about the gang-related stuff when Jackson signs somewhere. Teams will do their homework and decide whether that is a serious concern or not really that big of a deal.
6:41 – Michael Vick chimes in. I still think the Jets make sense for Jackson:
Want to wish my bro @DeseanJackson10 much success where ever he land his next opportunity! Good luck lil bro
— Mike Vick (@MikeVick) March 28, 2014
SATURDAY
10:36 – Interesting note here on the Jets:
Six teams reached out to DeSean Jackson’s camp yesterday, per @AdamSchefter. I’m told that Jets GM John Idzik did not. #nyj

10:38 – Bucs head coach Lovie Smith tells the Tampa Bay Times his team could take a look at Jackson:
“I’ve had a chance to be on the other side of the field and have watched him make a lot of great plays,” Smith said. “He’s a great football player. Of course, we look at everyone we think can help us win.”
10:41 – Again, take reports like this with a grain of salt, but:
At last count, at least seven teams expressed interest on Friday in DeSean Jackson.
— ProFootballTalk (@ProFootballTalk) March 29, 2014
1:58 – This one’s not going to make anyone here happy:
Two wildcard teams interested in DeSean Jackson: #Redskins and #Bills. Can see both fits. Toss those in with #Chiefs, #Raiders and the rest.
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) March 29, 2014
Between @RapSheet report and the #Redskins people I’ve spoken with, I think the interest in D-Jax is more than any of us thought at first.
— Chris Russell (@Russellmania980) March 29, 2014
7:04 – The Redskins’ interest appears to be legit:
Redskins sources: DeSean Jackson is expected to visit with Washington this Monday
— Dianna Marie Russini (@NBCdianna) March 29, 2014
7:05 – And there appear to be a number of teams legitimately interested:
From what I am hearing, D-Jackson will have opportunity to pick his new team much sooner rather than later.
