Making Sense Of the Eagles’ Inactives
The following Eagles are inactive for today’s game against the Washington Redskins: QB Michael Vick, WR Damaris Johnson, CB Bradley Fletcher, safety Earl Wolff, LB Jake Knott, OT Dennis Kelly and LB Mychal Kendricks.
The good news for the Eagles is that Jason Peters is active and expected to start. He was listed as questionable with a pair of injuries (quadriceps, pectoral). If Peters has issues, Allen Barbre will step in. The Eagles also have Matt Tobin active, along with backup guard/center Julian Vandervelde. They usually go with only two backups on gameday, but because of Peters’ injury, they are going with three today.
Johnson is inactive for the first time all season. The Eagles signed Brad Smith last week, and he’ll be active. Smith or Brandon Boykin will presumably return kicks, and DeSean Jackson will handle punts.
Matt Barkley will back up Nick Foles at quarterback.
Fletcher is inactive for the second straight game. Roc Carmichael will take his place at cornerback. Patrick Chung will start for Wolff at safety.
Kendricks is out of the starting lineup for the first time all season. Najee Goode will start at inside linebacker alongside DeMeco Ryans.
