Making Sense Of the Eagles’ Inactives
The following Eagles are inactive for today’s game against the Dallas Cowboys: QB Michael Vick, safety Patrick Chung, CB Shaun Prater, RB Chris Polk, OT Matt Tobin, OT Dennis Kelly and DL Damion Square.
Vick is inactive for the first time all season. He was the Eagles’ emergency quarterback a week ago, but won’t dress today. Chip Kelly explained earlier this week that he needs to have three QB options on gameday. That includes emergency option James Casey, who is active today. Matt Barkley will back up Nick Foles.
Chung tried to give it a go last week, but has a nerve issue with his shoulder and won’t play. Rookie Earl Wolff will start alongside Nate Allen once again at safety.
The Eagles made a roster move this week, adding RB Matthew Tucker off the practice squad. He’ll dress today as the third running back behind LeSean McCoy and Bryce Brown. Polk is out with a shoulder injury.
The other position to keep an eye on is cornerback. The Eagles cut Jordan Poyer this week, and Prater is inactive. That gives them four corners: Cary Williams, Bradley Fletcher, Brandon Boykin and Roc Carmichael.
For the Cowboys, DeMarcus Ware is out. That was expected, but Ware did make the trip to Philadelphia. Running back DeMarco Murray is also out.
