For so many of us, self-care isn’t fixed. Some days, it might look like your feet firmly planted on your yoga mat. Other days, it might sound like you and your group of friends cheers-ing at a local brewery.
No matter what shape our self-care takes, it seems like we’re always bopping from place to place to pursue it. While that’s not necessarily a bad thing, wouldn’t it be totally rejuvenating to take care of your physical, mental, and social health under one roof? Sounds like the dream!
Lucky for all of us, a new yoga studio in Northern Liberties will strive to meet all our self-care needs in one space. Tula Yoga and Wellness, which officially opens December 14th, will offer a wide variety of weekday and weekend yoga classes, including alignment-based Vinyasa (their specialty), gentle flow, restorative yoga, prenatal yoga, yoga for men, and a strength-training yoga practice called Strength and Flow. Once you rise from Savasana, take advantage of Tula’s on-site wellness services like acupuncture and psychotherapy, and even beer tastings every fourth Friday of the month. Namaste and IPAs? We’re so down (dog).

Tula, which means ‘balance’ in Sanskrit (and therefore, is the perfect name for a yoga studio offering the total mind-body package), was founded by Carly Markowitz and Jenn Curren, two Philly yogis and NoLibs’ residents who met and completed their 200-hour yoga teacher training at Maha Yoga in 2014. After years of talking about opening their own studio in their neighborhood, their dream became a reality this October when they signed a lease on a space at 4th and Brown Streets. In two short months with the help of family, friends, and community members, Markowitz and Curren fully renovated the 1,600-square-foot studio.
At the grand opening this Saturday, Tula Yoga and Wellness will be hosting four free classes, which you can pre-register for here. Plus, you’ll enjoy complimentary light bites from Honey’s Sit ‘N Eat and Cafe La Maude, mini facials from Beauty Counter, and giveaways (and mimosas!) from the studio.
Tula Yoga and Wellness is located at 737 North 4th Street in Northern Liberties.
