5 Healthyish Things to Do This Weekend in Philly
Looking for healthy things to do this weekend? Here's a few ideas.
Happy Friday! We did it, fam. We made it to the end of the week — which is particularly impressive this week, considering that winter officially arrived with the first snowfall of the season yesterday (boo!).
The good news is, we’ve got about a million ideas for how we want to spend our weekend in Philadelphia — here’s just a few of them.
CHEER That’s right, it’s marathon weekend, people! The Philadelphia Marathon is going to take over our streets, and if you’re not running, why not get out and cheer? Our advice: buy a poster and some Sharpies to make a sign (and please, please, make it a funny one), bundle up, grab some coffee, and find a cheering station. We’ve got all the deets on where to find your caffeine fix and cheering crew right here.
SWEAT If you’re not busy resting up for the marathon, we suggest joining a fun “triathlon” on Saturday, November 17. The event will start at BPM Fitness on Spring Garden for 30 minutes of strength training, followed by a mile-ish run to Yoga Habit in Fairmount. There, it’ll finish with a 30-minute yoga flow. Tickets are $25, and you can get more info here.
BUY A TURKEY Buy the best bird out there by getting one that’s local, organic, and free range. We’ve rounded up all the Philly establishments selling local turkeys right here to help you prep for a Thanksgiving feast to remember.
EAT PIE ‘Tis the season for pumpkin pie, but you can make it a little healthier — without sacrificing great taste — with the help of this recipe from Philly dietitian Melissa Bailey. With coconut milk, pumpkin puree, and maple syrup, you know it’s gotta be good.
SHOP Self magazine just released their 2018 Fitness Awards, and included in it is their picks for the best sports bras, gym bags, fitness trackers, sneakers, and more. We’re scoping them out for holiday gifts — and, TBH, making a list of all the stuff we want for ourselves too.
