This Huge Free Yoga Series Is Returning to Race Street Pier
Yoga on the Pier kicks off April 28.
The Race Street Pier ranks pretty high on our list of “Phillie’s most scenic spots.” For that reason, we can’t think of a better venue for outdoor yoga all summer long. I mean, you’ve got views of the water and the bridge and space to soak up sunshine that isn’t blocked by tall buildings. See? Perfection.
So we’re pretty excited that the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation, with the help of the series sponsor Aetna, is bringing their free yoga series back to the pier this month. Unlike many free yoga series — which tend to run once a week — yoga at the Race Street Pier will occur every day of the week through November, for a total of nearly 300 free classes throughout the season. (I know, it kind of blows our minds, too.)
The series will kick off on April 28, after which, you’ll be able to find the yoga sessions (weather permitting) at Race Street and N. Columbus Boulevard every Monday through Friday at 7 a.m., Monday through Thursday at 6 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays at 9:30 a.m. Should it rain on the parade, the weekend and evening classes will be relocated to Functionally Fit at 110 N. 2nd Street.
And as before, there will also be a series of once-a-month Twilight Yoga classes. Those will take place at 8:30 p.m. on the following dates:
Monday, April 30
Tuesday, May 29
Thursday, June 28
Friday, July 27
Sunday, August 26
Tuesday, September 25
Wednesday, October 24
So, yeah, that’s a LOT of free yoga — enough to keep you flowing every single day, spring through fall. And if you really can’t wait for the series to start, good news: Yoga on the Pier is hosting a kick-off party on Friday, April 27 at United by Blue (205 Race Street). The party, which will run from 7 to 9 p.m., will have complimentary drinks and small bites, and you’re definitely invited.
