Where to Find Avocado Toast Around Philadelphia
Your guide to Philly's trendiest, tastiest brunch dish.
Needless to say, avocado toast has got to be our fave brunch-time dish (aside from mimosas, amiright?). It’s really a no brainer: avocados are on-trend, and the fruit’s (yep, it’s not a veggie) vibrant color is extremely photogenic. After a few mimosas, you can throw a filter on anything and you feel like an automatic Instagram star, so it’s really just an added bonus that the dish tastes good and has some lovely health perks, right?
Below you’ll find 11 spots right here in Philly that serve up the almighty avocado toast on the regular. Some places offer it the classic way — just avocado on toast with light seasonings — while others really make it their own by adding eggs, bacon and even — gasp — Brussels sprouts? Bookmark this page and consider it your brunch guide for at least the next 11 weeks.

Where: 1701 Locust Street, Rittenhouse; 1 South Penn Square, Midtown
What: Chances are if you’ve popped into this Australian-transplant cafe, you’ve had their infamous “Avocado Smash.” The simple and healthy snack is just as it sounds — toast topped with an avocado mash seasoned with lemon juice, salt and pepper, chili flakes, and olive oil. Choose from add-ons like feta, a poached egg or the Australian classic — Vegemite — and more.
Bakeshop on 20th

Where: 269 South 20th Street, Rittenhouse
What: For my friends that like a slightly more jazzy avocado toast experience, the Bakeshop tops a slice of multi-grain toast with a fried egg, sriracho, feta, and tomato. Plus, avocado. Duh. And bonus: They also have a gluten-free version.
Miles Table

Where: 1620 South Street, Graduate Hospital
What: Mile’s Table does the avocado toast simply and deliciously. Their version features a slice of multi-grain bread topped with avocado, two eggs however you fancy ‘em and some nice leaves of arugula.

Where: 1201 Spruce Street, Midtown Village
What: For Philly toast-lovers, this spot is the mecca. Not-so surprisingly, Toast serves up a fine avocado toast on a hearty seven-grain bread. Choose to spice it up with some cheese, sprout and tomato, or ask them to throw some meat on it.
Luna Cafe

Where: 317 Market Street, Old City
What: Luna Cafe serves their avocado smash on a nice slab of multi-grain toast, topped with some juicy tomato slices. Choose to add some goat cheese to the equation to pack in some extra flavor and creaminess.
Cafe Lift

Where: 428 North 13th Street, Callowhill
What: Cafe Lift most certainly makes the avocado toast their own by adding some local brussel sprouts and cubed bacon into the mix. They top it all off with a poached egg for the toast to sop up.
Girard

Where: 300 East Girard Avenue, Fishtown
What: Girard typically tops their whipped avocado on toast with seasonal ingredient. And you know what that means — it’s going to be the highest possible quality of ingredients they can get their hands on. And, in my humble opinion, seasonal equals yummy. Choose to top yours with a poached egg or some lump crab meat — or maybe even both!
Hungry Pigeon
https://www.instagram.com/p/BM3xkrijf2r/
Where: 743 South 4th Street, Queen Village
What: While they choose to do their avocado toast simply, just topped with a fried egg — you know it will be downright delicious because, well, it’s the Hungry Pigeon.
Cafe Square One

Where: 50 South 3rd Street, old City
What: This avocado toast has a little something extra up it’s sleeve — truffle oil which, if you aren’t familiar, would make a shoe taste delicious. In addition to the truffle oil, a slice of multi-grain toast is slathered with mashed avocado and topped with lemon juice, sea salt, red pepper flakes, cherry tomatoes, queso fresco, and a nice ‘n’ runny sunny side up egg.
P.S. & Co.
https://www.instagram.com/p/BU7GwExDzmj/
Where: 1706 Locust Street, Rittenhouse
What: P.S. & Co. builds their delicious vegan avocado toast on a slice of their made-in-house nut and seed bread which is then topped with the avocado smash, a drizzle of lime juice, and a touch of jalapeño oil for a special kick.
