Life Time’s 2nd Area Fitness Club Opens This Week

It comes complete with a 50,000-square-foot outdoor pool deck.

The time has come, my friends: As we told you guys earlier this year, the Minnesota-based Life Time Athletic, known for its larger-than-life fitness clubs — which come complete with your typical gym equipment, along with amenities like a spa, dedicated yoga and Pilates studios, fancy-shmancy locker rooms, childcare, waterslides (in some cases) and more — is opening three new Philly-area locations this year, and the first outpost opens its doors this week.

Life Time Athletic already has one area location in Mount Laurel, and the three new fitness clubs will be in Fort Washington, King of Prussia and Ardmore. The Fort Washington outpost, a 115,000-square-foot fitness club, featuring a 50,000-square-foot outdoor pool deck (!!!), will open to founding members this Friday, May 19th. Then, the KOP location — even larger, at over 120,000-square feet — is expected to open on June 13th. The Ardmore location, coming to Suburban Square, is slated to open its doors in late fall.

Membership prices range per club, but back when the Philly-area expansion was announced, Savvy Main Line dropped into the KOP preview center to do some investigating and found that a single person was looking at spending somewhere around $120 per month. You can learn more about Life Time Athletic clubs — and check out their group-class offerings, which are pretty darn extensive, at 85 classes a week — here.

Now, who wants to start scoping out (very, very, VERY large) empty lots so can we can convince them to come to the city?
