How to Work Out for Free at Roots Athletics This Weekend
A few months ago, I — arguably the least coordinated person on planet earth, next to an infant learning to walk — found myself attempting a hopping bear crawl move during a warmup for the F.I.T. class at Fairmount’s Roots Athletics. It was not pretty. But the F.I.T. class, short for functional interval training and designed to supplement Jiu-Jitsu training, was awesome. (You can read all about my experience here.)
So if you’re looking for a workout to squeeze into your Saturday, I am happy to tell you that the folks at Roots are holding a free (!!) F.I.T. class for Be Well Philly readers this Saturday, March 4th, at 10 a.m. Yep: The workout is free.99. And if the words Jiu-Jitsu are scaring you off, not to fear: While the class is designed to benefit folks’ Jiu-Jitsu training, you do not, by any means, need to be into Jiu-Jitsu to do it.
The circuit-training class, which will incorporate muscle-building equipment like kettlebells, battle ropes, and medicine balls, is open to 15 weekend warriors. To get in on the action, you can snag your spot here then head to the studio at 2101 Brandywine Street on Saturday. How nice is that? Happy sweating, friends!
