Three (Free!) Philly Fitness Challenges to Tackle for a Fit February
February is starting off a bit chilly, but we won’t let that get in the way of reaching our fitness goals, right? Right. Check out these three Philly fitness challenges (all free to join in on!) that will work double duty — helping you stay warm and get fit — this month.
If killer abs are your goal for the month …
Local trainer Charles Scogna of Charge Performance and Wellness is hosting a virtual 28-day abs-building challenge on Instagram. Scogna will post an abs workout video to Instagram every day of February (you can find Charge on Instagram here) and he’s challenging you to record yourself bangin’ out one minute (give or take) of that ab exercise and posting it to your own Instagram daily. By the end of the month, you’ll be a bonafide fitstagrammer AND you’ll have stronger abs to show for it! Oh, and don’t forget to tag @charge_philly and #abcharge each day to be entered in a raffle where two lucky participants will win a free month of group training or discounted access to Charge’s Charge Your Run spring run training program. Plus, Scogna tells us there’s a good chance the challenge will end with a party at the gym.
If diversifying your workouts is your goal for the month …
iRunTheHill, a community fitness group based in Chestnut Hill, is hosting their second annual #FitFeb challenge — but this year they’re really stepping it up a notch. Each week of February will feature a new theme and hashtag (see: #healthyonthehill) encouraging a united, active community and — most importantly — good vibes. Anyone who gets involved in the #FitFeb challenge (you just need to post your #FitFeb photos to their Facebook group to join in) will be automatically entered to win a fitness photoshoot with celebrity photographer Mat McCabe (!!) so get movin’ and prep for your (potential) close-up. You can find more info on iRunTheHill’s Facebook page here.
If stepping up your running game is your goal for the month …
This February, Run215 is challenging everyone to run (or walk/run — the point is to get moving) one mile every single day for their annual #RunStreakPHL challenge. To keep track of things, Run215 has created a Google Sheets document where you can log your daily miles and Instagram hashtags to see what everyone is up to. Also, keep your eyes peeled because there may be mini-challenges thrown into the mix throughout the month — you can find the full rundown of details here.
