Where to Find #RuntoWorkPHL Running Groups on Friday
Only two more sleeps until Philly’s third annual Run to Work Day this Friday, friends! Can you tell we’re a little bit — okay, fine, a LOT — excited?
Something to note: There will be a few running groups, led by the Run to Work Day team and a few Philly running clubs, that will be gathering Friday morning, open to anyone and everyone who wants to pound the pavement into work alongside some new runner friends. The six all-levels-welcome runs will meet at various points across the city, and meeting times vary, so make sure to take note of what time you should meet your crew.
All of the groups will be making their way to the same destination: Philadephia Runner’s #RuntoWorkPHL pre-work runners’ party at their Center City store at 16th and Sansom Street. The party, where you’ll find coffee, water and more goodies to refuel with (Federal Donuts may or may not be in the mix — you’ll just have to wait and see!), will be in full swing by 7:45 a.m. and will keep going until folks head off to their 9 to 5s. So even if you’re not running with a group, make sure to stop though for the free fun!
The map below shows you where the six groups will meet up, but here are the locations for your reference. And a reminder: Make sure to take note of your group’s meeting time, as times differ.
Manayunk Group: Meet at Philadelphia Runner’s Manayunk Store at 4358 Main Street at 6:30 a.m. Run leaders will be Gary of Chasing Trail and Amanda of Students Run Philly Style.
West Philly Group: Meet at the trolley stop at 43rd Street and Baltimore Avenue at 6:55 a.m. Run leader will be Julie from West Philly Runners.
Lemon Hill/Fairmount Group: The November Project’s Beth Blendell will be leading a post-November Project group to the runners’ party from Lemon Hill. If you don’t plan on joining in on the November Project’s 6:25 a.m. workout at the same spot (It’s free!) but still want in on the group run, meet them at Lemon Hill at 7:15 a.m.
South Philly Group: Meet at Singing Fountain at Tasker and East Passyunk Avenue at 7:15 a.m. Run leader is Run215’s Jon Lyons.
Northern Liberties/Fishtown Group: Meet at the Piazza at Schmidt’s, across from El Camino Real, at 7:15 a.m. Run leader is Adjua Fisher (that’s me, y’all!).
Bella Vista Group: DetermiNation will be leading this group run from from 8th and South Streets at 7:50 a.m. (Late risers, rejoice!)!
Those are the six official running groups, but if you’d like to man a pop-up group in your neighborhood (the ‘burbs are welcome, too!), email me or leave a comment below and we’ll add you to the map. Just let me know what time you want to start, where you’re starting from and where your end point will be.
Let’s do this, you guys!
