The Philly Fitness Instagrammer Whose Closet You’ll Want to Raid Immediately

The other day, I got sucked into the black hole that is Instagram and found myself months in on Lithe Method creator Lauren Boggi’s page, clicking through to stare at each of her photos, not to see the exercises she posts as part of her Lauren Boggi Active fitness challenges (though those are great, too), but to see her workout outfits. Because, in case you haven’t seen them, they are amazing. So amazing, in fact, that after said Instagram binge, I was thinking thoughts like, “Could I pull off a shiny black workout jumpsuit?” And, “I wonder if I should start sporting gold Margiela platform sneakers at the gym? Probably. I probably really should.” Don’t worry, I later came back to reality.

My point: While some of the workout outfits seem a bit impractical (Case in point: That sports bra that has more holes than it does fabric above), Boggi’s Instagram page offers up a wealth of workout-wardrobe inspiration that, if nothing else, will encourage you to stop sporting your ex-boyfriend’s Good Charlotte cut-off T-shirt from 13 years ago to hot yoga. And we could all use some encouragement in that area, right?

And good news: Boggi tells us she plans to launch an online platform this summer that will include full-length Cardio-Cheer-Sculpting workout videos (think: extended versions of her Instagram challenges), nutrition plans, beauty products, and — drumroll, please — activewear for purchase. So soon enough, you’ll be able to oh-so-easily replicate a Lauren Boggi-approved workout wardrobe. Until then, you can drool over our favorite of her workout outfits, plucked from Instagram, below. (And note: If you decide you can’t live without something, she includes where each item is from in the caption. Wallets, be warned.)

I’m a bit obsessed with the Jet. For those of you that love the outfits more than the exercises, I have some great ones on deck! #LBActive #10 (Ball Squats). 30 reps. These are great for the triceps. I’m demoing fast & slow. Try it: (a) Legs hip-width apart & parallel, shoulders depressed and chin to throat, Inhale to bend knees & lower lower seat while pressing ball in front of chest. (b) Exhale to contract abs, squeeze glutes & stand up simultaneously extending arms behind you, squeezing ball. (c) Inhale and open legs. Ready? I have a sick kiddo so our 14th #LBActive exercise (#76) is a repost from January. See-Saw + booty lift + jumping lunges. Do 3 reps of each = 1 rep. Do 10 R then 10 L. If hammy’s are tight, modify with hands on a step or small box. See-saw can be mod on knees. Try it: In plank w/abs engaged, shoulders down, chin to throat, L leg extended & R heel in stiletto. (a) Inhale to see-saw, L hip opens, shoulders square. (b) exhale & lower body to plank & R leg to floor. 3x (c) Inhale bring L leg forward into lunge & sink to bend knees + lower body towards floor. (d) Exhale extend legs, keeping hips parallel & shoulders wide 3x (e) take hands to hips, simultaneously stand & do 3 jumping lunges (R+L = 1 rep). Articulate through feet. Let’s do this! Here’s a #BuildAexercise (Side Saddle) that I want you to do in conjunction with tomorrow’s 3rd #BuildA exercise. You’ll need one 3-8+ lb weight. I’m using an 8 lb weight. Try it: (a) R hand on hip. Chin tilted towards the throat, & shoulders sliding down. R leg is standing leg. Abs engaged, but pelvis is not tucked. Place weight on the MID THIGH (keep it heavy on the leg) of L leg. Your L arm should be long. With L leg parallel, and angled slighting back, lift the leg as you inhale up and exhale up. Try for a big range of motion. 30 reps (inhale up and exhale up = 1 rep). Non-dominant (Left leg) will lead first, then repeat on R leg. Modify w/out the weight. Ready?
