Deal Alert! Get a $5 Lunch at Pure Fare’s Asian Takeout Window, Yoku, This Week

Sorry to spring some last-minute lunch plans on you like this, but trust me — it’s worth it. Today and tomorrow, the folks behind Pure Fare and AGNO Grill are soft-launching their Asian takeout window concept, Yoku, with $5 meals all day long. Both days, the deal will run from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., or until they’re sold out.

You’ll find the takeout window attached to Pure Fare’s Rittenhouse location at 119 South 21st Street. No word on the actual menu, but we got a sneak peek at some of the recipes they were testing earlier this fall, and I can tell you it is bonkers delicious. Here’s a description from our previous reporting:

[Yoku] will offer up gluten-free meals inspired by Southeast Asian street food. Among other items, they’ll have bowls where you choose a base — options include stuff like sweet potato noodles, jasmine coconut rice and shredded greens — and top that off with a meat, like ginger beef, tamarind chicken or fried cauliflower for the vegetarians among us. Then you get a choice of two veggies — stuff like roasted eggplant, bok choy, snap peas, and more — plus a sauce (I’m all for the coconut curry, but other options include Sriracha cashew mayo, peanut Thai basil, and more). Ah-mazing, right?

Like at Pure Fare and Agno, all of the ingredients used will be completely gluten-free (the fried cauliflower is breaded with almond meal and it’s the bomb dot com), and non-GMO. We were lucky enough to taste test some of the new spot’s menu and discovered, not only is the food good for gluten-free eaters, it’s also very dairy-free-friendly. And seconds-worthy. My favorite item was the roasted eggplant salad, made with japanese eggplant, sesame oil, coconut aminos, tamari, pepper, scallions, and chili flakes. And I kid you not, I could eat drink the coconut curry sauce with a straw.
