Dole Announces Recall of 33,000 Bags of Spinach
It’s time to check your spinach bags, folks. Dole Fresh Vegetable announced a voluntary recall today of 33,600 bags of fresh spinach due to concerns over possible salmonella contamination.
The bags were distributed in 13 states, including Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The affected packages carry an “Enjoy By” date of October 15 and the UPC 7143000976.
No illnesses have been reported in association with the spinach, but Dole spinach tested positive for salmonella in a random sample test at a facility in Michigan, according to a press release. Bags of Dole baby spinach and other salad varieties are not part of the recall. Consumers are being told to discard packages with the UPC code and Enjoy By date above.
