Our friends over on BizPhilly just clued us in to a pretty awesome on-the-go coffee concoction in the works over at La Colombe. The Philly-based coffee company is planning on rolling out a better-for-you, cheaper-than-most canned coffee that folks can grab at grocery stores for an on-the-go caffeine fix.

As CEO Todd Carmichael told BizPhilly, the drink will be made without any added sugar, unlike Starbucks’ canned variety which Carmichael is no fan of. As he says, “If I had three of those per day, I’d be obese by the end of the year … You shouldn’t consume that much sugar in one 10-ounce drink. Unless you’re getting a buzz. If it were a cocktail, I’d be good with it.” We gotta say, we totally agree with him.

Instead, La Colombe’s version will be sweetened by pressurizing the milk molecules to pump out the natural sugar. Carmichael also told BizPhilly the drink will be in the “dollar-something range.” Quite the deal, right? You can find out more about La Colombe’s canned creation, like where it’ll be sold and when you can expect to see it on the shelves, over on BizPhilly.
