Register Now: Valentine’s Day Runs in Philly
Believe it or not, we’re less than a month out from Valentine’s Day. I can already tell this year is going to fly by. If you have your heart set (See what I did there?) on participating in a Valentine’s Day race or run in the Philadelphia area, you should get your registration on STAT. Here are four lovey-dovey runs to check out this year.
Valentine’s Day Singles Fun Run
When: Saturday, February 14th at 5 p.m.
Where: Philadelphia Runner, 4347 Main Street, Manayunk.
Cost: $30.
Philadelphia Runner will christen its newest store, set to open in Manayunk in the next few weeks, with a Valentine’s Day singles run. In the spirit of match-making, they aim to get a fairly even number of male and female registrants. Runners will complete a three-mile fun run around Manayunk, then head to Winnie’s LeBus for an after party. The $30 fee covers the run, a shirt, two drinks and food at Winnie’s, and a party with a DJ and dancing.
Feel the Love 5K
When: Saturday, February 14th at 3:30 p.m.
Where: The Philadelphia Navy Yard.
Cost: $30.
You’ll need a partner for this one: Couples will complete two loops each of a flat, fast 5K course in the Navy Yard. Sounds simple, right? Here’s the catch: You’ll run the race in opposite directions, and your combined finish times will determine your place. Top finishers will be eligible for prizes. After the run, participants will head to an after party at the Holiday Inn Philadelphia Stadium, where your race bib will earn you one complimentary beverage.
Cupid’s Undie Run
When: Saturday, February 14th at noon.
Where: XFinity Live, 1100 Pattison Avenue, South Philly.
Cost: $45 through January 30th, $55 after through race day.
Channel your inner exhibitionist for this one, because you’ll be stripping down to your tightie-whities for this frigid February run. The almost-naked Cupid’s Undie Run entails a one-mile(ish) fun run down by the stadiums, completed entirely in your underwear. Afterwards, runners will gather at XFinity Live for an after party. The event benefits the Children’s Tumor Foundation. (Check out our photos from last year’s run.)
Cupid’s Chase 5K
When: Saturday, February 14th.
Where: Races in Philadelphia and Cooper River Park in New Jersey.
Cost: $30 before February 13th, $50 on race day.
This race benefits Community Options, Inc., a Princeton-based national nonprofit that provides housing and employment support to people with disabilities. The Valentine’s twist is this: Runners who are single wear shirts that say “Available,” and those in a relationship wear ones that read “Unavailable.” The Philly run takes place on MLK Drive.
