Name: Chico

Age: 1 to 2 years old

Breed: Pit bull terrier mix

Size: 46 pounds

Background: Chico was found as a stray.

Where you can find him: PAWS Spay/Neuter and Wellness Clinic in Grays Ferry.

Running style: Tune in, Chico! This dapper pup is all ears for your springtime racing and training goals. He’s got some goals of his own, and the Monster Milers volunteers are working hard to help him get there. At the shelter, Chico is learning how to play nicely and be sociable with other dogs and people, and his new running habit goes hand in hand with his practice of calm, quiet manners for use in his forever home. (Plus, he looks great in a bowtie, don’t you think?)

Why Chico is awesome: Chico was selected for rescue by PAWS from the city’s open-intake shelter, ACCT Philly, as they believe he’ll make a wonderful pet for a committed, high-energy adopter. He’s eager to learn and listen, and his friendly intensity is as endearing as his smile.

………..

We work with The Monster Milers each and every week to profile local running dogs waiting to be adopted. The Monster Milers are a group of runners who help shelter dogs burn off  energy and get much-needed exercise by taking them on runs around the city, and they also just launched their first-of-it’s-kind Adopt a Running Buddy foster program. If you’re not in the market for a pup right now, but would still love to help out homeless dogs, you can always become a Monster Miler volunteer or foster parent.
