14 Reasons It Was Awesome Being Healthy and Fit in Philly in 2014
Let’s take a look back on 2014 with our health-and-fitness glasses on, shall we? Here’s what got us psyched to run, eat, play and more in Philly this year.
Together with Philadelphia Runner and Run 215, Be Well Philly hosted Philly’s first ever Run to Work Day in September. It. Was. AMAZING. Looking forward to 2015 already.
The Be Well Philly Underground, that is. Our top-secret pop-up fitness events had us boot-camping in Rittenhouse Square, running over the Ben Franklin Bridge, spinning our hearts out at Body Cycle Studio and more. If you aren’t yet a part of the Underground community, join our email list here so you never miss a beat.
3. We embraced the November Project.
The free, twice-weekly pop-up workouts fetched hundreds of participants every week. Join them on Wednesdays or Fridays.
4. We got the Schuylkill Banks Boardwalk.
A killer addition to your running route, isn’t it?
5. We saw lots of new studios open.
Priya Hot Yoga! Plank Studio! Hotbox West Philly! Purenergy! Just to name a few.
And filled it up in 70-minutes flat.
7. We fought over Philly’s best veggie burger.
8. We took one step closer to becoming a better biking city.
Well done, Mayor Nutter.
9. We sold out Be Well Philly Boot Camp.
A tweaked program, more fitness classes, an inspirational keynote speaker, and—bam!—a sell-out crowd at our third-annual fit fest. Stay tuned for details on next year’s event, which we’ll release very soon.
10. We did lots of outdoor yoga this summer.
It never gets old!
11. We kept right on juicing.
Places like Sip-N-Glo began thinking outside the bottle by teaming up with partners around town to make all-new juice creations (and boozy ones at that). Plus, more and more juiceries (and pop-up juicers) continued to make their debut.
12. We met lots of adoptable running dogs.
That just made us feel good inside.
13. We found Philly’s best gluten-free pizzas.
Mmmmm.
Because, well, why not?
