Philadelphia Runner Is Doing Something Totally Awesome for Black Friday
Sure, you can score plenty of discounts on workout gear this Black Friday, just not at Philadelphia Runner. See, they wanted to do something different this year, and we think what they’re cooking up is, well, pretty darn rad.
Instead of a sale, they’ll be handing out $5 tokens for every $50 spent in the store. You’ll be able to allocate your token to one of several local charities, and Philadelphia Runner will give a $5 donation to your group of choice.
“Honestly, we’re a little scared because it means we’re going to be risking sales by not having ‘bargains’ during what is usually a pretty busy weekend,” says Philadelphia Runner spokesman Ryan Callahan. “But we thought this was a little more genuine, and we would rather give the money we would usually give out in discounts to good causes.”
The Center City and University City stores will feature Back on My Feet, Students Run Philly Style, American Cancer Society’s DetermiNation Philly, Fairmount Park Conservancy and Schuylkill River Development Corporation. At the Glen Mills store, you’ll be able to choose between Girls on the Run and Healthy Kids Running Series.
You can drum up some good karma by heading to any Philadelphia Runner location on Friday or Saturday to shop. The stores will be open from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
