#BWPSelfie of the Week: How Lauren Keeps Off Her 25-Pound Weight Loss
Welcome to the #BWPSelfie of the Week! Read about why we’re obsessed with selfies—and the sweaty Philadelphians who take them—below.
Name: Lauren Schappert
Day job: Logistics Management Specialist for the USN (Civilian)
Where she snapped this: While on vacation. I was climbing the gorgeous Grouse Mountain North, in Vancouver BC, Canada.
What she was doing: Hiking the Grouse Grind. Check out the stats:
Length: 2.9 kilometers (1.8 miles)
Elevation Gain: 853 metres (2,800 feet)
Base: 274 meters above sea level (900 feet)
Summit: 1,127 metres (3,700 feet)
Total Stairs: 2,830
Statistics: Annually, over 150,000 people hike the trail.
Average Time: On average it takes up to an hour and a half to complete the hike.
The person we can baaaarely see in the background is: Kalapa Chauhan
Why she loves hiking: I always try to go on awesome hike on while on vacation. It’s a great way to see some amazing views. And it helps me avoid gaining too much vacation weight.
Her other favorite ways to work out in Philly: Co-ed sports leagues (football, dodgeball, kickball), running, biking, yoga.
How she stays motivated to sweat: Few years ago I lost around 25 pounds on Weight Watchers, so I am motivated to maintain all that hard work I did to get the weight off. Besides, buying new clothes is expensive—I sweat so I don’t need to buy another new wardrobe.
