If you’re a runner living in the Northeast, you may have noticed a lack of running groups in your area, like resident Vinita Young did. But here’s some good news: Starting Wednesday, you’ll have a club to call your own. That’s thanks to Young, who is heading up the new Torresdale Beer Runners and is hosting the group’s very first run tomorrow night at 7 p.m., an out-and-back from Reedy’s Tavern at 9245 Frankford Aveune.

Here’s what group organizer Young has to say about the group:

I was’t able to find a running group in the Northeast, and it always bugged me. Running downtown and on Kelly Drive is great, but it’s not so convenient since I practically live in the ‘burbs. I finally decided to start planning group runs in my neighborhood, and I really like the concept of runners hanging out and grabbing a drink after a run. I wanted to bring that camaraderie to runners in the Northeast.

The weekly runs will be held every Wednesday night at 7, and will start and end at a different Northeast bar or restaurant each time. The route will be roughly three miles, and you can tack on additional miles if it floats your boat. All levels and paces are welcome. Check out the group’s Facebook page for the run location every week.
