Our 2013 Health Hero Is Leslie Marant!
If you tuned in to our Facebook page last night, you were no doubt in tears over the video we posted of our newly minted Health Hero giving her acceptance speech (how Oscars-like!) at our party for the contestants. I was so, so honored to announce that after months of voting and with over 12,000 (!!) votes cast in our second-annual Health Hero Challenge, Leslie Marant came out on top.
Leslie is a co-ambassador for Black Girls Run! Philadelphia, personal trainer, hard-working attorney and mom of three. She’ll be featured in the December issue of Philadelphia magazine, and her chosen charity, Organization for Autism Research—a cause that’s close to her heart due to her son’s autism diagnosis—will receive a $3,000 donation from Philadelphia magazine and UnitedHealthcare. Read more about Leslie here, and watch the video below to see her speech.
It was truly a pleasure to gather our 16 Health Heroes in one room along with all their biggest fans—friends, family members and colleagues who have been impacted by the work that our Health Heroes are doing every day. These people are doing some amazing things, y’all, and I know I speak for my colleagues at Philly Mag and our partners at UnitedHealthcare when I say that each and every one of them more than deserved to be there.
Congratulations, again, to Leslie and to all our 2013 Health Hero challengers.
