To Do: Run Drenched 5K in Fairmount Park

Cool off with fire hoses, sprinklers and water guns.

Remember the days when epic neighborhood water balloon fights were all the rage, and a Super Soaker was an absolute must-have item? If this summer is making you nostalgic for the days of sprinklers, kiddie pools, and rockin’ one-pieces, then great news: the Drenched 5K is coming to Fairmount Park in August and it’s a total throwback. The race course will be outfitted with all kinds of water obstacles that will make your inner child jump for joy, including a sprinkler minefield, misting tunnel, and 100-foot slip-and-slide (!!!). And that’s just for starters.

After the race, an epic water fight is due take place on site. Each participant will receive 25 water balloons at check-in, so there will be plenty of ammo to go around (but feel free to bring backup if you must). Register here.

$45 to $55, August 17th at 9 a.m., Fairmount Park, 4231 North Concourse Drive, Philadelphia.
