Urban Yoga Philly Is Moving to the Piazza This Summer
I have gotten a LOT of questions from readers recently asking what the heck is going on with Urban Yoga Philly this year. Is it happening? If so, where? And when?
I’ve been trying to track down info for a few weeks now, and I’m happy to (finally!) report some news. The folks over at Lululemon on Walnut Street, who organize the whole shebang, tell me they’re moving the show to the Piazza in Northern Liberties this summer. Urban Yoga Philly will run from June 15th through September 7th, with free outdoor classes led by local instructors every Saturday morning from 9 to 10:30.
This is a pretty big change from last year, when the classes were held on Thursday evenings at 6:30 at the Comcast Center. Those sessions were very well attended, I think (and this is just my guess, of course), because they were conveniently located in Center City and timed perfectly to start right after work. So will the venue and time change ding attendance? Maybe—but then again, free yoga is free yoga, so perhaps people won’t mind the switch-up.
If you want to double up your free-yoga-weekend-sessions, Dhyana Yoga will be hosting freebie classes at Race Street Pier on Sundays in June. Both the Dhyana classes and Urban Yoga Philly classes are bring-your-own-mat.
