To Do: Meet Paleo Cookbook Author Melissa Joulwan

Wondering what the heck Paleo is? Head to this event to find out.

I know you’re wondering about this Paleo craze. I mean, taking grains, sugars, legumes and dairy out of one’s diet sounds crazy, right? Well … maybe not. The lifestyle change worked for blogger Melissa Joulwan, former-chubby-kid/gym-class-skipper-turned-CrossFitterr/runner/lifter of heavy things. She attributes her cured insomnia, better body image, and new level of personal strength to adhering to the Paleo diet. (Sidenote: Joulwan is still normal, I checked. She noshes on chips and has whipped cream when she wants, just not too often.)

Her cookbook, Well Fed: Paleo Recipes for People Who Love to Eat, allows readers to learn about the benefits of a Paleo diet while also showing how easy it can be to adhere to the seemingly restrictive plan. The recipes are ones that Joulwan created in her own kitchen, and include extra details, helpful hints, and technique tips.

Joulwan will be at CrossFit Center City on Thursday, August 30th, at 6:30 p.m. to answer questions about the Paleo lifestyle and sign copies of her book. Check out this site for more information.

FREE, Thursday, August 30, at 6:30 p.m., CrossFit Center City, 1229 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia.
