As the summer winds down, many parents find themselves busy shopping
for school supplies and uniforms. But have you remembered your child’s
immunizations?
Most states require proof of immunizations before enrolling children in
school. The written record must show the month, day, and year your child was
immunized. State laws vary as to which specific immunizations are needed,
but most states require the following:
  • Hepatitis B
  • Hib
  • Pneumococcal
  • Tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (whooping cough)
  • Polio
  • Measles, mumps, and rubella
  • Varicella (chickenpox)
To keep your child’s health a top priority, be sure to attend all well-child visits and ensure that all immunizations are administered on time. Use these guidelines— along with the advice of your doctor—to help your child stay healthy.
