A Fitness Workshop for Gleeks
If watching an episode of Glee has ever made you wish you could climb through the television and join in on the fun dance numbers, listen up. Philly Dance Fitness is offering two Gleekercise workshops in March and April. For 90, fun-filled minutes, you’ll not only burn calories, but you’ll also get to dance along to some of your favorite Glee songs, including “Proud Mary,” “Don’t You Want Me” from the Human League, and “Bust a Move,” the song Glee‘s Matthew Morrison danced to in the first season. “I just want people to have a good time and sing along as they’re dancing,” says Deborah Hirsch, the owner of Philly Dance Fitness, a self-proclaimed Gleek and the brains behind the Gleekercise idea. “I don’t care if they get the steps right. This is about getting some physical activity and having fun doing it.” Gleekercisers don’t need to have any prior dance experience, and can expect to learn moves for about 10 Glee songs.
Just sign up soon. The March 24th session has already sold out, but there are still spots available for April 10th. While Hirsch may offer more Gleekercise workshops in the future, no additional classes have yet been planned. Still, you may have a chance to show off your new Glee skills outside of class. “Who knows?” says Hirsch. “Maybe we can start a dance mob in Rittenhouse after the workshop and show everybody what we’ve learned that day.”
