Photos Of What’s Opening Soon II
Today we look at the brown paper covering the progress at five more restaurants that are hoping to open soon.
Tinto is going to be Jose Garces’ next restaurant. Across from Capogiro Gelato at 20th and Sansom, Garces’ next spot will be a smaller venue than Amada, and will focus on the small plate cuisine of the Basque region of Spain.
At 20th and Rittenhouse Square an as yet unnamed restaurant is taking shape. The former location of Salt and Out of the Blue. The new spot hopes to open by Labor Day and will be owned by Jonathan Makar, former manager of Marigold Kitchen.
At 20th and Ludlow the Blue Horseshoe is undergoing another transformation. Come September it will be reborn as Christopher’s, a Mediterranean restaurant and bar. Interestingly, the Blue Horseshoe seems to be open during the transformation.
Further north on 20th Street, 20th and JFK to be exact, is the future home of Brazilian churrascaria, Chima. No sign of work besides the liquor license application was visible. Chima is expected to open in early 2007.
Sticking with the Brazilian vibe, we venture down to Broad and Chestnut to take a look at the future location of Fogo de Chão. Inga Saffron, the Inquirer’s architecture columnist has been critical of some of the internal alterations to the former J.E. Caldwell. Outside the Widener Building is as impressive as ever.
