Amanda Knox Freed From Italian Prison
Amanda Knox Returns Home. Knox has been in Italian prison since late 2007 after she was convicted of murdering her British roommate. A lack of physical evidence helped her appeal, and her conviction was overturned yesterday. She’ll be heading home to Seattle today. A Philadelphia lawyer played a large role in having Knox’s conviction overturned. [Inquirer]
Police Find Woman’s Body in the Schuylkill. Last Thursday a woman drove her boyfriend’s car through a retaining wall and into the Schuylkill River. Police were able to recover the vehicle and the woman’s cell phone a few hours after the accident, but had been unable to locate the woman’s body until yesterday. [CBS 3]

Mayor Nutter Asks for Plan to Cut Budget. In these trying economic times, Philadelphia’s tax receipts have been a tad short of what Mayor Nutter and company were anticipating. Thus, Nutter has asked city managers to plan for a two percent budget cut—ya know, just in case. [Inquirer]
Valley Forge Casino Has a CEO. A 50-table, 600-slot casino attached to the Valley Forge Convention Center is expected to open some time this spring. Now, it has a CEO in Saverio R. “Sal” Scheri—a 27-year veteran of the gaming industry who’s spent time as a CEO in California and Las Vegas. [Philadelphia Business Journal]
Another Park Vandalized in Kensington. Yesterday a park in Kensington lost its basketball hoops when someone used professional tools to cut down the thick metal poles before someone scrapped them. The poles were probably worth a great deal as far as scrap metal is concerned. This comes after another park lost its bleachers to vandals last week. [FOX 29]
