Introducing Mr. Gay Philly…

G Philly was out in full force at Mr. Gay Philadelphia this past weekend where openly gay gymnast Dashiell Sears from Temple University won the title. After dazzling the all-star judges with some seriously fancy footwork – not to mention a backflip – he managed to defeat a gaggle of hunky gays (five of whom made it to the final round).

The who’s who crowd was lively at Voyeur during the event – produced by NightlifeGay.com – with VIP seats and plenty of celebrity spotting (Village Voice columnist Michael Musto, Paper editor Mickey Boardman and Project Runway winner Jay McCarroll were among a few of the well-known judges).

Ticket holders were also treated to performances by the Dragapaloolza divas (look for a second live show coming May 21) and hilarious barbs exchanged between co-hosts Frank DeCaro from Sirius Radio and Philly’s own Brittany Lynn.

After the pageant ended, G Philly met up with Musto and Boardman, first at Woody’s before braving the downpours to get to piano bar Tavern on Camac, where the New Yorkers rubbed elbows with the local LGBT community. Musto even threatened to sing something from “The Little Shop of Horrors.” To which Boardman added, “He’s got a beautiful voice.” Was he kidding? We’re still not sure. The guys snuck out before last call.
