It’s National Grilled Cheese Day – Here Are Some Specials and Some Favorites


It’s National Grilled Cheese Day and this rainy day just screams for a grilled cheese. We’ve compiled a list of restaurants around town are doing specials as well as some of all-time favorites.

Miles Table, which has recently opened at 1620 South Street is offering four varieties today for just $2.99. Selections being offered include; a soft pretzel grilled cheese, a caramelized onion grilled cheese, an arugula and truffle grilled cheese and a four cheese grilled cheese.

Meltkraft, the grilled cheese component of Valley Shepherd Creamery in the Reading Terminal celebrates the grilled cheese everyday. Go extreme with the Valley Thunder, or keep it more traditional with the Avenue D’Classic.

Despite the rain, Say Cheese Philly is at the Porch at 30th Street Station today. They aren’t doing anything special for the day, just giving “the grilled cheese the proper representation it deserves.”

Another spot that celebrates the grilled cheese everyday. The Pop Shop in Collingswood, go in and order the Calvert or the 5Bs, both were featured on Throwdown with Bobby Flay.

All four DiBruno Bros. locations are offering grilled cheese options today. Look for a special demonstration at 3 p.m. at the Comcast Center location.

Metropolitan Bakery lets Shelburne Farms farmhouse cheddar star in its grilled cheese. Pick one up at their 19th Street location.

It’s tough to beat the cheese to bread ratio of Royal Tavern’s grilled cheese. The smoked gouda, sharp provolone, goat cheese just about equal the size of the thick-cut French boule bread.

Jones is all about comfort food. And the grilled cheese might be the ultimate example of that. Add a bowl of tomato soup and watch the rain come down.
