Countdown to Philly Beer Week: Days 27-25
Just 25 days until Philly Beer Week–the most blessed 10 days in the life of Philadelphia beer drinkers–begins.
Every day we’re highlighting an event from the burgeoning beer week calendar. Since we skipped the weekend, today we’ll highlight three beerlicious happenings that we think are worth your time.
Beer for Brunch? Yes, please. On Saturday, March 8th, beer expert Lew Bryson is hosting a wheat beer brunch at the Grey Lodge Pub:
11 a.m. – 1 p.m. price ala carte
Start your Saturday right with Lew Bryson’s Wheat Beer Brunch at the Grey Lodge Pub in Northeast Philly. Enjoy the Breakfast of Champions, wheat beer, in all its glorious styles with a beer breakfast honed by years of Groundhog Day experience.
If beer brunch on Saturday isn’t enough for you, why not try it again on the following day? Jose Pistola’s is having a Colorado Beer Brunch on Sunday, March 10th. The delightful Eddie Friedland (another Belgian knight) will be there!
11:30 a.m.- 2:30 p.m. $30
Buffet-style brunch featuring Colorado-based craft brews hosted by longtime Philly beer experts Eddie Friedland and Jim Meiers sponsored by Origlio and Bella Vista Beverage
You’ve got just a few more days to pick up discounted tickets to the fourth annual Brewer’s Plate benefit for the Fair Food Project. This year it’s being held at the IVC:
6-9 p.m. General Admission – $60 ($50 if purchased before Feb. 15). VIP: $100.
This gourmet food and craft beer showcase matches prominent Philadelphia area restaurants with local craft breweries to create 21 unique collaborative food/beer pairings. Celebrated chefs from restaurants serve their delicious creations alongside acclaimed master brewers, who in turn pour guests samples of the corresponding beer. The event is a benefit for the Fair Food Project of White Dog Community Enterprises, which works to support a sustainable local food system by connecting regional family farmers with wholesale buyers and by promoting locally grown food in Philadelphia. The Brewer’s Plate showcases Philadelphia’s premier independent restaurants and local artisinal brewers from within 150 miles of Center City.
