Mudder Mayhem 7-mile Trail Run, May 8, 2010
This second-annual run takes place in historic Evansburg State Park along a path that is guaranteed to be a muddy good time. The mayhem this year is set to rival last year’s muddy goodness with a new path and crew committed to making Mudder Mayhem part II even better!

Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure 5K & 1-mile Fun Walk, May 9, 2010
This iconic race includes a 3.1-mile course that you may run or walk, and if you’re not into racing, try the 1-mile Fun Walk. Come out and help celebrate 20 years of “Racing. Embracing, Empowering.”

The “BA5K” is held every year in honor of Brian Anderson, who passed away at the age of 21 on Mothers Day morning, 2005, due to an undiagnosed heart arrhythmia. All proceeds from this family event will go toward supporting three noteworthy causes: the SADS (Sudden Arrhythmia Death Syndrome) Foundation, research at the Mayo Clinic, and the Brian Anderson Memorial Scholarship program at Washington Township High School and Villanova University.

St. Dot’s Challenge, May 15, 2010
This course starts at the St. Dorothy School followed by a scenic, tree-lined course through the rolling streets of Drexel Hill. Be sure to pick up your copy of Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen by New York Times best-selling author Christopher McDougall; McDougall will be on-hand after the race to sign copies.

Philadelphia Bar Assoc. 5K Run/Walk-31st Annual, May 16, 2010
Organized by the Philadelphia Bar Association, this event attracts more than 1,200 runners and walkers each year and benefits the Support Center for Child Advocates. The event is open to runners and/or walkers of all ages and skill levels, so come out and run for a good cause.

Dave Logar Memorial 5K Run, May 16, 2010
In memory of Dave Logar, all proceeds of this run will be distributed to the Dave Logar Lenape Scholarship Fund, individuals with paralysis, and the Miami Project, part of the Buoniconti Fund for paralysis research. The race will include a 5K run or 1-mile walk.

Nita’s 5K Walk/Run, May 22, 2010
This run/walk benefits the Safe Harbor of Greater West Chester, which provides shelter and encouragement for the homeless. The 5K loop through the roads of West Chester Borough is mixed with flats and hills, which means you’ll get a great workout.

Run for ALD 5K, May 23, 2010
Adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD) is a rare, genetic disease that causes brain damage, failure of the adrenal glands, and eventually death. All proceeds from this event benefit the non-profit Kennedy Krieger Institute dedicated to treating, preventing, and ultimately curing ALD, as well as other neurogenetic diseases. This year’s run is being dedicated to Matthew Gagliardi of Stratford, New Jersey.

ODDyssey Half Marathon, May 29, 2010
This is the kind of race that helps you remember running is fun. This half-marathon is peppered with optional twists and fun obstacles throughout, such as costume contests, all while running through the beautiful Fairmont Park, then winding through the serene Schuylkill River Loop. All finishers will receive an official ODDyssey Half Marathon pint glass, so come out, have some fun, and use your prize to toast your victory at the finish!

WIA-KIA Memorial 5K Run & 1-mile Family Walk, May 29, 2010
This run gives people at home a chance to show their support for service men and women that have defended our freedom, particularly in the post-911 era. All proceeds go toward monuments in Freedom Park honoring military personnel killed in action post-Vietnam.

This challenging, premier trail race includes a 10K trail run or scenic 5K walk that will take you along the paths of the Wissahickon Valley Park. The Trial Classic benefits Wissahickon Restoration Volunteers, a non-profit organization devoted to restoring the natural lands of the park.

This challenging suburban 10-mile run through King of Prussia is USATF certified. There will also be a 5K run and a 5K walk, as well as a Kids Fun Run for kids 12 and under. All proceeds benefit the MDP School Educational Endowment Fund.

Mud Run, June 12, 2010
Grab your friends and get dirty for a good cause. Throughout the 10K course, you’ll find unique, man-made challenges and natural obstacles—along with mud, lots and lots of mud. This is the first-annual Mud Run in Brandywine and benefits the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Third Annual Danielle Bledy Memorial 5K Race & 1-Mile Fun Walk, June 13, 2010
This race is in honor of Danielle E. Bledy, and benefits Pediatric Brain Aneurysm Research and the D’s Dawgs Scholarship Fund. Run a 5K, try the 1-mile Fun Walk, or D’s Dash, where children 10 and under can participate and race in a 50-yard (approximate) race.

This run is put on by the Delaware Valley Stroke Council and all proceeds benefit the Delaware Valley Stroke Council and its mission to advance education and reduce the incidents and impact of strokes in the community. Sign up as a team or go solo.

Ambler Area YMCA Summer Solstice 5K, June 16, 2010
Spring into summer with this 5K run/walk and Block Party. The course takes a flat route through a residential area along with a 1-mile stretch on a nature trail. This rain or shine event offers free supervised kids activities, an Olympic style finish, and post-event refreshments.

2010 Philadelphia Insurance Triathlon, June 27, 2010
The PHLYTRI MutliSport Expo will be taking place on Friday, June 25th, before the race events and should prove to be the center of attraction surrounding the weekend. PHLYTRI expects over 5,000 people to attend the Expo, which will include the latest in sports products, services, accessories, and events. BOMF 20in24 Relay Challenge Lone Ranger, Ultra Marathon, Midnight Madness

Run any of three runs this weekend. First, the Lone Ranger Ultra Marathon/20in24 Relay Challenge is a test to see how many miles you can run in 24 hours. Teams of five complete 20 loops (168 miles) in 24 hours. Each team member will run a minimum distance of 1 to 5 loops, or 8.4 miles to about 33.4 miles. The Midnight Madness Run is for night owls—all individuals are required to wear reflective gear, glow sticks, or paint—and starts at midnight on Saturday, July 17, 2010. Then, roll out of bed, slip into those sneakers and head out for the Pajama Loop, another 8.4-mile loop that starts at 5:30am on Sunday, July 18, 2010.

The swim will be point to point across Flamingo Lake, followed by a bike ride along rolling country roads, and finishes with the 3-mile run along a beautiful, wooded setting.

Formerly known as the Philadelphia Distance Run, this race will feature rock ‘n’ roll bands every mile as you run along the historic and beautiful course though Philadelphia. Make sure to also stop by the ING Rock ‘n’ Roll Philadelphia Half Marathon’s Health &
Fitness Expo at the Pennsylvania Convention Center on September 17th and 18th to pick up your race number, t-shirt, and goodie bags before the race.
