Nothing says summer like visiting your favorite Instagrammable farmhouse and frolicking through its strawberry fields. As safety restrictions ease and the world slowly returns to pre-COVID norms, nostalgic seasonal traditions like picking fruit — and taking slightly itchy hayrides – can resume. We’ve updated our list of farms offering pick-your-own strawberries, just in time to shake off those pandemic blues.
Where to Go Strawberry Picking in Montgomery County
Maple Acres Farm and Market
Where: 2656 Narcissa Road, Plymouth Meeting

Maple Acres Farm and Market invites aspiring strawberry pickers to gather fruit as well as other items like sunflowers during PYO seasons. The farm offers pony rides on Saturdays, plus its market is open year-round and carries an assortment of jams, produce, and other locally grown goods. Strawberry picking is expected to begin in late May or early June and updates will be posted on the farm’s Facebook page.
Where to Go Strawberry Picking in Bucks County
Hellerick’s Family Farm
Where: 5500 North Easton Road, Doylestown

Beginning in June, PYO strawberries and more from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily at Hellerick’s Family Farm. Guests are required to reserve a time slot, with a limited number of fruit-pickers being allowed in the field at any given point. The farm also boasts an aerial adventure experience, goat yoga and an obstacle course. Visit their Facebook page to see what crops are in season before you stop by.

Shady Brook Farm

This Bucks County staple offers strawberry picking, a live summer concert series, and a host of family-friendly games and activities. The farm invites guests to indulge in a number of pickable fruit choices throughout the year, starting with strawberries in June and ending with apples and pumpkins in the fall. PYO fields are open Wednesday through Sunday, from June 2nd to August 29th.

Linvilla Orchards

May marked the return of Linvilla Orchards’ pick-your-own season — weather and field conditions permitting. The 300-acre property is home to a produce market, garden center, and of course the option to pick your own strawberries. Visitors can stroll through the Linvilla’s strawberry fields from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Where to Go Strawberry Picking in Chester County
Highland Orchards
Where: 1000 Marshallton-Thorndale Road, West Chester.

Pick-your-own strawberries, shop for locally grown produce, and purchase baked goods at this West Chester farm. Beginning in June, Highland Orchards will offer PYO from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Visit the farm’s website to sign up for notifications of when picking begins.

Weaver’s Orchard

Weaver’s Orchard pick-your-own fruit season kicks off in June with strawberries, raspberries, and a number of other activities like cooking classes and a blossom festival. The farm also hosts a Read ‘n’ Pick Storytime, a summer series that incorporates fun stories and fruit picking for children. Where to Go Strawberry Picking in Lancaster County
Brecknock Orchards

Brecknock Orchards invites pickers to visit the farm at no fee and with free parking — just pay per pound of fruit. For an even more exciting experience, hop on a tour through the orchards which includes snacks and a fresh fruit smoothie. Strawberry picking season starts May 27th and runs through June 30th; call ahead to verify openings and availability.
Brook Lawn Farm Market
Where: 2325 Lititz Pike, Lancaster

This Lancaster county produce farm has been around for over 80 years and is also home to a roadside market. Brook Lawn usually opens their strawberries fields in late May or early June and runs for several weeks, depending on the weather. Picking times vary from market hours of operation and guest should visit the farm’s Facebook for daily pick-your-own updates.

Shenk’s Berry Farm

With an anticipated start date of June, Shenk’s Berry Farm invites gatherers of all ages to pick strawberries and more throughout the summer. If you’re new to the art of fresh fruit picking, the farm’s website includes helpful tips to store or freeze berries for later use — in addition to updates about the upcoming strawberry picking season.
Where to Go Strawberry Picking in New Jersey
Johnson’s Corner Farm

Johnson’s Corner feels more like an agricultural amusement park than a quaint New Jersey farm. In addition to the option to PYO strawberries, there are three water splash pads, go carts, rock climbing, and a petting farm for kids. There’s a limited supply of fruit for each day and the farm suggest visitors purchase tickets for weekday and weekend strawberry picking times online.
Terhune Orchards
Where: 330 Cold Soil Road, Princeton

From May until June Terhune Orchards opens its fields for guests to pick strawberries, flowers, and other vegetation. Guests can visit the farm’s vineyard and winery, which features selection of beverage made from grapes grown right at the orchard. You can PYO strawberries 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. It’s recommended you call ahead for updates prior to a visit.
